The Barcelona fisherman’s number one priority was to get to the sea, and to get there quickly.
Overtime, the fisherman population died down and the common city worker took over the Mediterranean directed streets. From here, the dwellers of Barcelona created streets that shot off of these and others that shot off of those. Thus, unique and non-orthogonal neighborhoods can be found off of the regularized boulevards.
Maritime metropolis neighborhoods contain the unique ability to orient people with linear and perpendicular streets, yet can also draw people toward unexpected results.
