ASSIGNMENT 1 // Bottom Up Planning in 22@

Bottom Up planning in 22@ is a ‘recipe’ for each block with specific percentages of the space to be dedicated to protected residential space, service space, and open space, giving the neighborhood some cohesion and a distinct character which hopefully will draw in people to occupy the site.

The historical context of medieval maritime villages oriented to the sea helps cultivate the need for a unique neighborhood identity that will bring in residents to this industrial part of town, which supports the 10-10-10 block plan.

The method for designing 22@ city blocks is a parametric system in which each bloc within the neighborhood must dedicate 10% to open space, 10% to protected residential space, and 10% to service space while protecting historic buildings on the site as well as erecting new ones.
